The Daily Feed 🍽

Lamb Koftas, Broccoli & Feta

Minimal effort to make the koftas, super easy and mainly store cupboard ingredients.

Plain lamb burgers go just as well with the broccoli side, which we often use ourselves.

What you'll need

Enough for however many you're feeding, I cook for 2.

  • Minced lamb
  • Broccoli
  • Feta cheese

For the kofta spice mix

  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Ground corriander
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • ½ tsp Cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1 Garlic clove, grated
  • Fresh herbs (optional)
  • 1 or 2 Spring onions (optional)
  • Salt & pepper

For the dressing

  • Olive oil
  • Lemon juice

What to do

1. Mix the spices, onion and fresh herbs with the lamb mince (I used 500g mince, to make 4 koftas/ patties).

2. Split the mix into 4 or 6. Roll into balls and squish a little bit. Fry gently in a dry pan (there should be enough fat in the mince, if not add a dash of olive oil) until cooked though and nicely browned on the outside.

3. While the koftas are cooking, cook the broccoli, strain and dress with olive oil and a squeeze of lemon juice. Season to taste.

4. Once cooked and prepped, plate up and crumble Feta over the top. Add some fresh herbs too if you like?

Kofta spices

notes & tips

  • 60-65 degrees this is the temperature at which lamb is  cooked medium. Insert a food thermometer into the thickest part of the meat. If it's between 60-65 degrees, it can come off the heat and left to rest.
  • use your favourite fresh herbs, I used dill but mint or coriander would be lovely too - even a mix of all of them. Or none at all! The dried spice mix brings plenty of flavour.
  • ground spices the ones listed are a great combination, but if you don't like one of them, or you don't have all of them, don't worry. If you like things on the fiery side you may want to add extra cayenne pepper or chilli flakes - or leave it out altogether. You really can make this your own!
  • spring onions these are a nice addition, but can easily be left out if you don't have any. Or swap for anything like chives, onion, shallot, leek if that's what you have.
  • minty youghurt dip take a couple of spoons of Greek yoghurt and mix in a teaspoon of mint sauce for a cool refreshing accompaniment.
