Advice on healthy living, it’s everywhere. An internet search comes back with a multitude of differing sources, offering words of wisdom, ‘helpful hints and tips’ and often, conflicting ideas.

Feeling overwhelmed? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. We are frequently contacted by people confused due to information overload. So we’ve put together some simple, fuss-free steps that should easily slot into your lifestyle and help you to feel great.

Eat well

Focus on eating real food in its natural state and wherever possible, cook everything from scratch. You can then monitor exactly what goes into your meals and ensure you’re following a balanced diet.

Remember to choose nutritious food over empty calories. Ditch the ready meals and stock up on fresh produce such as chicken, fish, eggs, or your choice of preferred protein, salad leaves, herbs and non-starchy vegetables (those grown above ground). Having these ingredients in the fridge means you’ll be able to pull together a quick healthy, meal for you and all the family.

Finally, don’t forget to allow yourself plenty of variety – after all eating should be enjoyable! If you need inspiration, check out our blog for super simple, deliciously healthy recipes.

Keep hydrated

While it’s important to be extra careful in hot weather, drinking plenty of water is not a requirement exclusive to summer. In fact, you should be drinking at least two litres a day all year round (more if you need to account for lost fluid through perspiration!).

Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink, sip water throughout the day and this should help to keep your hydration levels on track. If you’re trying to cut down on caffeine, why not swap it for a cup or two of boiled water and maybe add in a slice of lemon, lime or a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar?

Alternatively, enjoy a mug of herbal tea.

Cut down on alcohol (sugar)

Most of us enjoy a glass or two at the weekend, and that’s ok. But why not try and cut it out during the week? If weight-loss is your goal or you’re looking for a challenge how about going teetotal for a month (or more) – it’s the best thing you can do!

Move more

If you’re completely sedentary: a brisk 10-15-minute walk every day is good enough to get you started!

Try and get your heart rate raised for at least 10 minutes a day initially and then work on increasing this up to 30 minutes per session. Aerobic exercise, comes with a whole variety of health benefits, including improved mood, so it’s definitely worth adding to your routine.

If you’re already on your feet or are enjoying the benefits of exercise in some way – step it up! Attending an exercise class or HIIT session a few extra times a week will really get those endorphins going and keep you motivated and feeling great!

Get plenty of vitamin D

While the sun and its rays should most definitely be treated with caution, they are not to be avoided all together. Sunlight enables our bodies to make Vitamin D, which is important for healthy bones, muscles and teeth.

It’s also associated with an array of health benefits including improved immune function and can reduce the risk of heart disease. So go and enjoy the sunshine, but make sure to wear appropriate protection to avoid any burning.

Sleep

Get an early night! Sleep is key to both mental and physical energy. It’s also involved in healing, repair and associated with longevity. Experts recommend we go to bed around 10:30-11pm and get around eight hours of shut-eye a night.

Having trouble sleeping? Switch off earlier – shut down the computer, lock your phone and turn off the TV. This will give you more time and space to wind down for a good quality night’s sleep. Zzzz…

Need to lose a few pounds? Healthy weight loss is all about lifestyle. There’s no such thing as a quick fix, it takes time and commitment. Set yourself realistic goals, don’t compare yourself to others or measure success using the weighing scales alone. It’s surprising how making a few simple changes to your diet over a few weeks can result in positive change.

By using Purition daily you are making a lifestyle change, swapping your old breakfast for a new one. If you combine this with some protein and a hearty salad for lunch, followed by a sensibly sized evening meal, focused on a palm-sized piece of protein and lots of green and colourful vegetables, you will quickly start to feel progress.

Purition is not a diet, it’s natural nutrition to help you transition to healthy eating as a way of life which (however long it takes) will see your body use excess body fat for energy, resulting in a slimmer, healthier you.
