Helping you relax on holiday
You’ve been waiting all year, counting down the days and finally the time has come to pack up your bags and board that plane. Let the summer holiday begin!
We know how important a summer break is, so to help you get the most from your time away we’ve put together some tips on how to relax and enjoy yourself whilst being mindful of your fitness and healthy eating goals.
Welcome to Purition’s happy holiday guide! Remember to…
Relax
Holidays are for relaxing. They’re a great time to reset and recharge. Whether you’re on the beach, by the pool or away for a city break, try and make some time for yourself. Take a break from the kids, perhaps read a book, listen to music or practise mindfulness techniques. Catch up on sleep, maybe even try some meditation.
It’s important to focus on yourself as much as anyone else, so that you return home fresh and energised.
Disconnect
Mobile phones, the internet and social media occupy a huge part of our lives. When you aren’t checking your phone, you’re updating your Facebook status, browsing the net or scrolling through Instagram. It can be exhausting!
How about using your holiday as a mini social detox? Switch off your phone and log out of social media. You’ll be surprised at how much time you free up – use this as an opportunity to spend time with loved ones or get a different perspective on things. Disconnect to reconnect.
Eat
Trying out the local cuisine is one of the best things about going on holiday and it doesn’t necessarily have to derail you from your nutritional goals. Think about how incredibly delicious the Mediterranean Diet can be – fresh fish, mixed pulses, colourful salads – it’s enough to make your mouth water!
Don’t be afraid to treat yourself to a cheeky pudding or enjoy a refreshing glass or two of the local wine. After all you’re on holiday!
Explore
Relaxing doesn’t just have to be about lying around in the sun. It can also be about exploring the local surroundings at your own leisure and embracing a different culture.
Why not organise some trips or book onto an excursion? Whether it’s by foot, bike, bus or even boat there will always be something new to see and learn. So get your camera ready and go do some exploring!
Be active
Just because you’re missing out on your usual gym routine back at home, doesn’t mean you can’t find other ways to keep active. See what your hotel or local town has to offer – tennis, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, windsurfing, hiking, paragliding and so on.
There are plenty of ways to keep your fitness on track and you might even pick up a new hobby along the way.
